(U)nity

(U)nity was conceived in the summer of 2006. By Cuban American Drummer Amaury Acosta & Cuban Pianist Axel Tosca Laugart.  Their vision was to create a sound that has never been done before. Fusing Axel's Afro Cuban Culture with Amaury's New York's Culture  Jazz, Hip Hop Etc.
"We wanted to make a sound that wasn't conventional or "gimmicky"  a lot of people that are doing Latin jazz or Afro - Cuban jazz, we wanted to go in a different route we wanted to fuze the uncommon aspects of both cultures. I was always believed that Jazz , hip hop and Afro Cuban music were cousins and Africa was its grand father"

(U)nity has performed at West New York music & arts festival, Nu Blu, Zinc Bar, Cachaca, Rose, Dizzy s Club Coca Cola, Avon jazz Festival, Congahead.com studios ,New york Winter Jazz Fest. Manhattan plaza Music fest, Jvc jazz Festival, Bird land,Millers ( charlettesville ,Virginia Richmond Music Festival (Richmond, Virginia), The Blue Note, Pax (Miami, Florida)the Roxy (Columbus, Ohio)  Long Beach Music Series  ( Los Angeles, California) The Shrine, Sweet Rhythm, Fat Cat, The New Jersey Jazz Summit, Spike Hill, Joe's Pub, S.O.B's amoung many other festivals and venues.
