Provocative New Film to Screen in Miami
"Bahía de Cochinos, Nuestra Perspectiva"
("Bay of Pigs, Our perspective")
(Miami, FL) The Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center will be presenting a screening of the documentary film "Bahia de Cochinos, Nuestra perspectiva" on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center located at 111 Southwest 5th Avenue, Miami Florida. Free Admission. Reception at 6:00 PM followed by the screening and Q & A with the film’s director/producer, Lucio Fernandez.
"Bahia de Cochinos, Nuestra perspectiva" is a documentary film about the Bay of pigs as told through the eyes of Cuban Exiles who actually participated in the invasion. Now, many years later, they contemplate the happenings and share their individual satires and feelings with us. That story comes at a price, a price we ask them if they would be willing to pay again. When all is said and done, are these past invaders resentful? Do they cast any blame? Who lost most in the Bay of Pigs invasion?
Featured in the film is testimony by members of the 2506 Brigade: Ángel Casabona Ruiz, Isidoro López González, Ricardo Montero Duque, Raúl Puig Sánchez, and Alvin Ross Diaz; as well as Sergio Gatria, director of the Cuban Information Center. Their stories are moving and shed light of the infamous Bay of Pigs Invasion. The film is bound to create some serious dialogue about what truly lies behind the events leading up to the invasion and the fallout thereafter.
The film is directed by renowned Cuban directors, Lucio Fernandez and Ricardo Bacallao; and produced by MeLu Films and The Grace Theatre Workshop, Inc.; Megan Fernandez, Executive Producer.
(Please note: this film is presented in Spanish, but informational materials in English will be handed out prior to the screening; and all discussions will be conducted in both English & Spanish.)

"Bahía de Cochinos, Nuestra perspectiva" es una película documental sobre la Bahía de Cochinos representada a través de los ojos de exiliados cubanos que participaron en la invasión. Ahora, muchos años después, contemplan los acontecimientos y comparten sus historias y sentimientos individuales. Esa historia tiene un precio, un precio que les preguntamos si estarían dispuestos a pagar de nuevo. Cuando todo está dicho y hecho, ¿están estos últimos invasores resentidos? ¿Le echan la culpa a alguien? ¿Quién perdió más en la invasión de Bahía de Cochinos, los exiliados, los cubanos revolucionarios, o el pueblo de Cuba? Esta es una nueva narración de esta historia, y se recuenta con profunda emoción.
La película cuenta con el testimonio de los miembros de la Brigada 2506: Ángel Casabona, Isidoro López, Ricardo M. Montero, Raúl Puig, y Alvin Ross; así como con Sergio Gatria, director del Cuban Information Center. Sus historias son conmovedoras y arrojan luz sobre la infame invasión de Bahía de Cochinos. "Cuba: Punto X" opens in NYC
About the Play
The play takes place in 2020. And the dictatorship of the Castro brothers is over. According to expert analysts, through the years the military communist regime in Cuba, created several secret spots that were extracted from the geography of the Cuban archipelago. One such site is the point X, somewhere near the Turquinoremote, in the east. At that point X, is in hiding, the former commander Eulalio and his assistant and lover, Yari. Both have spent several years in hiding, waiting to be rescued and smuggled out of the island. Commander Eulalio was notable for its abuses and violation of human rights of many citizens. Dozens of researchers supported by the International Commission for Human Rights, relentlessly pursue the fugitives, who are former members of the military apparatus, which distinguished themselves by their abuses and violations.
CUBA: POINT X, through its three characters, "Commander Eulalio", semi kidnapped girlfriend, "Yari", and the researcher, "Adrian", poses in fiction, a look of a future hypothetical situation in Cuba.
The play stars Alfonso Rey, Dalia Davi, and Lucio Fernandez. It is written and directed by Ivan Acosta; assistant director, Alexander Diaz; choreography by Alberto Morgan; production design by Jesus Rivera; original music by Alfredo Triff; sound design by Frank Rodriguez; and produced by Melu Communications Group and Latin Jazz USA Productions in association with OLLANTAY Center for the Arts. It is presented entirely in Spanish with English subtitles.
